Taplejung, July 22: Neighboring country China and Olangchungola in Taplejung district have been connected through a road network.
The road construction initiative that started some seven months ago from Tiptal, a Nepal-China border point, was completed on Friday by constructing up to Olangchungola.
On Friday, the vehicles from the Chinese contracting company arrived in Olangchungola carrying heavy equipments including excavator after opening the road track, giving a sense of elation to the folks.
The local residents enjoyed the whole night on Friday after connecting their remote village to China via road network.
It is said that Rs 30 million plus amount was spent to construct the 30 kms road from Tiptal to the human settlement in Olangchungola.
Chairman of road Users’ Committee Chheten Balung said that the members of Balung community have invested two-thirds more than the state’s amount. He shared that Rs 25 million was collected from the Balung community.
Likewise, remaining other amount was received from the parliamentary development fund and the then VDC office.
Meanwhile, the road to Olangchungola from district headquarters Phungling has been developed up to Tapethok of Phaktanglung Rural Municipality. So far, track of 41 kms was opened and 35 kms more is still left to be opened.
