PM Deuba leaves for New York

Kathmandu, Sept 19 (RSS): Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has left for New York, USA on Tuesday leading a 20-member Nepali delegation to the 72nd Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
Speaker Onsari Gharti, Deputy Prime Ministers Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar and Gopal Man Shrestha, Ministers, among top government officials, the chiefs of the security bodies and chiefs and represenatives of the foreign diplomatic missions in Nepal saw off the PM at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA)’s VVIP lounge today.
On the occasion, Nepal Army (NA) squad offered a Guard of Honour to PM Deuba, who left on an Etihad Airlines flight at 5:00 pm.
The High Level Segment of the UNGA begins on 19 September 2017 with the theme of ‘Focusing on People: Striving for Peace and a Decent Life for All on a Sustainable Planet’. While in New York, the Prime Minister will address the United Nations General Assembly on 23 September 2017. The Prime Minister will hold bilateral meeting with the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres the same day.
On the sidelines of the UNGA, the Prime Minister will have bilateral meetings with the President of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani; President of Sri Lanka Maithripala Sirisena; Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina; and Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on 21 September.
