Kathmandu, Feb 13 (RSS): President Bidya Devi Bhandari and Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun offered worship and prayers at Pashupatinath Temple on the occasion of Mahashivaratri today.
A special arrangement had been made for President Bhandari and Vice-President Pun to pay homage to Lord Shiva at the at the temple, according Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) Governing Council member and Publicity Sub-Committee Coordinator Ghanashyam Upadhyay. However, the President and Vice-President carried out the worshipping and prayer within a short time as there was a long queue of devotees longing for worships.
Vice-President Pun had reached the temple first. President Bhandari reached there after half an hour.
Upadhyay further shared that as many as 400,000 devotees had already reached the temple premises to offer worship as of 1:00 pm this afternoon, and the number was likely to soar at the end of the day. Since this year, the PADT has initiated a special arrangement to keep official records of the devotees entering into the temple for worship.
Nepal Scout has made an arrangement of coupon for the collection of data of devotees.
As many as 1.3 million devotees are expected to offer prayers at the Pashupati temple, according to the preliminary estimate of the PADT.
