Kathmandu, Dec 8 (RSS): Japan has welcomed the voting at the elections to the House of Representatives and State Assemblies in Nepal in a generally peaceful manner.
Issuing a press release Friday, Embassy of Japan in Kathmandu said that Japan deployed an election observer mission composed of 10 members led by Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr Iwao HORII, and the mission visited several polling stations in Kathmandu valley. “Based on the results of such visits, we acknowledge that the elections of the House of Representatives and Provincial Assemblies in Nepal were held in a free, fair and transparent manner,” reads the statement.
Japan has also expected that the outcome of the elections will be determined in accordance with an appropriate and fair process adding that political processes after the elections would proceed smoothly and would continue to support Nepal’s efforts for further consolidating its democracy.
